On August 24, 2022, The Washington Post reported that a high-profile investigation into a U.S. cabinet official and his chief-of-staff had ended in a declination by the U.S. Justice Department to bring criminal charges. In that case, the department's office of the inspector general had alleged that the two, including a Searby client, had made inaccurate and misleading statements to its investigators.
